Dealing with unplanned eating

Today has a theme! It has to do with eating spontaneously. Sometimes things happen, and going home and eating the same lunch or dinner that was planned isn’t number 1 on my list of things to do.

Wednesday

I woke up, not expecting anything different than a usual work day. I made oatmeal with pumpkin puree and maple syrup, and had a piece of toast with pumpkin puree mixed with just a bit of peanut butter and syrup on the side. 6 smartpoints.

Pain

I officially have my first running injury. I’ve finally decided to call it that, although I believe the actual pain started at work, and got worse from using the muscle and also running on it regardless of the pain.

I’m still unsure of which muscle or part of me actually is damaged, and how. I want to call it a strain, but I have no swelling or tenderness. It just hurts when I step up, sit in certain chairs, run, walk, or use it to get up. I think I am finally going to take a longer break, although I have so much anxiety about doing so, it isn’t even funny.

Let’s pick up where we left of…

My exciting Friday night!

I made it through my night alone! My coffee was made once I got to the kitchen and I poured myself a mug and then weighed myself. I had weighed in Thursday, because I had planned on possibly splurging that night and didn’t want my actual weight to be altered by bloating. I DID eat lots of sweets and have some beers, but Friday morning I still weighed the same, .8 lbs down from last week!

I called Tony and talked to him while he had his breakfast from Dunkin Donuts, and sipped my coffee, wondering what I would eat. I wanted badly to go out to eat today for one of my meals, but breakfast wasn’t it. Once Tony was off to his interview, I ran to Jewel to get some breakfast sausage (turkey of course) and came home and made some food. I put the last leftover waffle in the toaster and heated 2 sausage links. Once warm, I just them up and put them into a pan with 3 tbsp of Better’n Eggs. Once cooked I put a slice of ultra thin sharp cheddar on top and transferred it all to my waffle, adding syrup in between. This was my take on a McGriddle (which I miss desperately), and was only 6 points+! Next time if I use a frozen waffle it will only be 5 points+, which is normal for a breakfast for me!

I sat and finished my coffee and surfed the web for a long time. I decided to do my full body workout before my run, since I am never up to anything once I’m done running and sweaty. I did a “weekend workout” video from XHIT, and then a short ab video after. As soon as I was done I set off for my run. I did 3.27 miles in 33 minutes, having to do some walking again. I don’t know if my long runs at the beginning of this week made me to tired, or if I am just lazy because it’s the weekend for me. Either way, I got 20.7 miles for the week!

I had to stop at work to sign my review since I was near by, and then I went straight home. I cleaned the house like I promised myself and then showered. Time for lunch! I made my copycat Strawberry Poppyseed Panera salad, 4 points+!
IMG_8289

I started looking around for restaurants to go to that night. I was going to meet him at a restaurant somewhere close to the airport so that he didn’t have to take a cab the whole way home. I made a decision and then played the waiting game! It wouldn’t be until around 9:30 that we would be getting there.

I ended up snacking on kettle corn, a Kashi granola bar, and banana for 4 points+ total. I wanted more, so I got a cup of grapes. I would for sure be eating like crap later, so I wanted to do good up until then, but it was tough. I ended up snacking on chips and salsa, and another Kashi bar before finally being satisfied.
IMG_8290

I watched some movies and it was finally time to go! I got there early as expected and got us a table. His cab ended up taking forever and then he FINALLY got there! We talked about all sorts of things and drank and ate. We had the biggest fried pickles I have ever seen and then I ordered the half slab of ribs (which I have been CRAVING) with a side of sweet potato fries and cole slaw. After dinner we got some bread pudding and shared it.

They were seriously GIANT.

Fancypants!

Fancypants!

On the drive home we realized that tonight our friend was out for his birthday and had asked to come. Still sporting his interview suit, we headed off to the bar. I had one beer there and we were both tired so we dipped out early.

We finally got to lay down in bed around 1:30, and it didn’t take long to fall asleep! Overall I am happy with my splurging. Tomorrow should be mild, if anything at all, so I’m not too worried about it. I will just keep up the hard work!

“Non-splurging” weekend (lol)

Saturday is my break day, so instead I did a 10 minute intermediate combination yoga routine, then got my breakfast ready. I had high fiber brown sugar oatmeal with blueberries and a piece of toast with grape jelly. 5 points+.
IMG_8114

I got ready and did some dishes before leaving for work. We were very busy in the morning and I was only needed for a couple of house. I got back home before 1 and had an apple and fiber one bar for a snack. 2 points+.

I relaxed for a bit before taking a long hot shower. It felt great with the chill fall weather we’ve been having. Once I got ready, it was time for lunch. I didn’t want anything boring or too big, so I tried my hand at some chicken salad. I used 2.5 oz Tyson’s grilled & ready strips, 1/4 of a small gala apple, 1.5 tbsp of light miracle whip, 2 tbsp of fat free greek yogurt, and 1/8 oz of pecans. I put the mixture on some lettuce and ate it as roll ups. It was SO good (although I’d much rather enjoyed on it 2 huge pieces of toast) and only 4 points+!
IMG_8117

I finished getting ready while Tony made and ate his lunch. I also had some chips and salsa for 2 points+. It was BEAUTIFUL out so we went for a walk. We walked just a hair under 2 miles. When we got home I read for awhile before heading over to my parents house.

I didn't want to go anywhere with this cute girl snuggling me.

I didn’t want to go anywhere with this cute girl snuggling me.

We drank a couple of beers and ended up making our dinner there. I got pre-made pizza crust and whipped up a big pizza! We put green pepper, mushrooms, and tomatoes (on my half only). Half the pizza was 11 points+ and soooo good.
IMG_8121

It was time to head down to the bar for the unofficial 10 year reunion of my 8th grade class. My friend I used to work with awhile back bar tends at one of the bars in my neighborhood so I planned it around her working. No one showed up, but her husband was there and we hung out with them all night. It was a lot of fun (possibly more fun than the reunion would have been). I drank WAY to much beer, and ended up having a bag of chips and a few pieces of the pizza Tony and our friend was eating.
IMG_8137

We stayed there all night, and since we walked there our friend gave us a ride home… on his motorcycle (individually of course). I’ve never been on one before, and even though it was only a quick 2 minute drive up the hill to our house I was still scared!

We got home and being pretty intoxicated, decided to have dessert. I had an ice cream cone, then another serving of ice cream in a bowl…. then a bunch of oreo thins with peanut butter. I think went over somewhere around 85 points. It’s a lot better than full day splurging, but I’m pretty disappointed that I couldn’t keep my promise to myself. I did run my 20 miles, and did yoga 4 days out of the week. I never did my full body, and skipped one day of abs.

Today started off pretty roughly. We were both a bit hung over and I slept until around 10. I needed to eat so I made us monte cristos for breakfast (ham and swiss sandwich dipped in egg and milk mixture like french toast). Mine was only 4 points+!
IMG_8130

We let our food settle for awhile and finally got ready to run. Today we opted for a walk/run for obvious reasons, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. We did 4.21 miles in 44:17 minutes. It was a beautiful day out once again, and this time we went on the path we tried Friday but on the other side of the road. It’s nice to run places you’re not used to.
IMG_8133

When we got back home I wasn’t quite hungry still so I made a smoothie with coconut water, plain greek yogurt, a frozen banana, some strawberries, and pb2. It was okay, but next time I think I’ll use cottage cheese or something instead of the yogurt. It was a bit tangy for my taste. It came to 3 points+.
IMG_8135

Tony got ready for work and when he left I headed to my parents’ house for dinner. My mom made beer can chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, and green beans. It was all so good and 8 points+.
IMG_8139

I needed to get things for dinners this week so I went to the store when I left. It took forever and I ended up having to go to a second store because I can never find lean enough ground turkey. I got home and relaxed for a bit before starting up American Horror story and folding laundry.

Once I finally put the last of the clothes away, it was time for a snack. I ate dinner around 5, and being used to eating at 8, I needed it. I made some chicken salad again and this time just ate it with the remainder of the apple I used to make it. 4 points+ once again.
IMG_8140

I watched some more TV and then it was time to do an ab work out. I did my favorite, 6 minute abs, and then went and got a big ice cream cone for 5 points+.
IMG_8141

I will be finishing my night off relaxing and maybe having a cup of tea. Back to work tomorrow, and of course keeping up with my exercising and eating habits! I really need to work on completing all of my work outs each week. I am doing more than I was before, but I would still like to do what I told myself I would. It’s a work in progress, but I’m getting there!

Labor Day Lapse/Long Work Day

It was September 7, 2015. The day started like any other.

I woke up, stretched, got Tony out of bed, and we headed off to the path to run. It was a GREAT but slightly short run. 3.2 miles in 31 minutes. It feels good to do under a 10 minute mile again!

When I got home I started making a waffle for breakfast. I mixed in half a mashed banana to my Kodiak Cake mix and added vanilla, cinnamon, pecans, and blueberries! All for 5 points+, but not very filling.
IMG_8063

I relaxed and finished my coffee, and then did my lower body workouts. We were going to go on a hike, but decided against it. That was the first mistake of the day. I showered got ready and off we were to downtown Downers Grove for lunch.

Our first choice wasn’t open due to a late start for the holiday, so we went to a diner across the street. I got a wardorf chicken salad melt with chicken noodle soup and sweet potato fries. I only had half, and figured it all to be 19 points+.
IMG_8064 IMG_8065

After lunch, most everything was closed downtown, so Tony took me to his work which was nearby and showed me around for the first time after working there for close to 3(?) years. After that we wanted ice cream, so we sure did find it. I had a giant homemade waffle cone with cake batter and cookie dough ice cream AND a part of a butter rum muffin. I’m guessing that to be around 24 points+.
IMG_8066 IMG_8067

We drove home, skipped the walk we were going to take (although I did already make my steps while walking all around his work building), and started some relaxing time. This is where things went downhill even more. I ate my other half of my sandwich (9 points+) Then we watched a movie and then decided we wanted grilling food and we went and got chicken sausages, baked beans, beer, and macaroni salad from the store. When we got home we cooked dinner. I estimate everything being 20 points+.
IMG_8074

We drank and watched another movie, and meanwhile I made some 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies. They were peanut butter, sugar, and egg. I’m guessing it was around 6 points+.
IMG_8075

After, I ate a ton of graham crackers that I didn’t really keep track of. AFTER THAT I had a large bowl of cereal for 6 points+. With the beer and all the snacking I estimate 27 points+ for after dinner.

I didn’t do abs, I didn’t do yoga, I went over somewhere in the ballpark of 85 points… when I was on track to end up with a good deficit this week. Mistakes happen, but I need to stay on track for awhile if I want to lose 5 lbs this month.

Today went much better. I woke up and had to work early in a studio an hour away, so I didn’t run right away. I drank coffee, ate, got ready, and headed off. For breakfast I had high fiber maple brown sugar oatmeal with blueberries, and an english muffin with low sugar jelly. 6 points+.
IMG_8076

I went off to work and started my day. It was VERY slow until late in the evening. I had an apple cobbler Kashi bar (3 points+) as a snack in the morning. For lunch I packed a ham sandwich with cheddar Special K chips for 5 points+.
IMG_8082

Later I had an apple and then my appointments started showing up! After what felt like forever I was out the door and snacking on my pretzel sticks (2 points+) on the drive home.

I finally got home at 8:30, and since I couldn’t run before work, I HAD TO RUN. To stay on track I needed 2 miles, so that’s just what I did and in only 17:46 minutes! I really did miss treadmill runs.

I changed into comfortable clothes and started warming my dinner up as quickly as possible. Tonight we had chicken fajitas. I made my shells into little bowls and had refried beans, and on top some homemade pico de gallo that Tony made. It was SO GOOD. Pretty satisfying and only 7 points+.
IMG_8086

I did abs right away and then made up a makeshift dessert. I used 1 frozen banana and made some soft serve. Then crumbled up a caramel corn rice cake and topped it all with peanut butter spread and sugar free chocolate syrup. Only 2 points+.
IMG_8089

I used all my points today, but didn’t go over. Other than yesterday’s splurge I am on track and doing all that I am supposed to do for my goals. I need to get back on track like I was at the beginning. As many times as I’ve said it, this time I need to crack down!

Too much work, and too much food!

Saturday started with me waking up and running before work! I got 2 miles in and then started a fairly normal breakfast, a bit on the lighter side. Veggie omelette with half an english muffin and a slice of toast with jelly and some fruit on the side. 3 points+ total, since I was going to be splurging later!
IMG_6969

After finishing up I quickly got ready and headed to work. After a while it was time for my lunch and I headed to Panera and got the Strawberry Poppy Seed Salad. 4 points+. I also got a banana and fruit cup to snack on while working the remainder of my shift.
IMG_6973

I got home from work, quickly got ready, and headed off to date night! We went to Rock Bottom Brewery. I got a German wheat beer of some sort. We skipped the appetizer and I ordered the 2:00 AM burger, which was 29 points, but I had planned on that. It had an egg, cheese, hash brown, AND bacon. Delicious. I did manage to get veggies as my side, and then we shared a “Carrot Cake for 2” which I later found was only tracked as 1/4 of the whole servings. Not far. I had a mini breakdown and after drinking part of a caramel macchiato at Barnes & Noble, returned home to eat 2 servings of Ben & Jerry’s  Half Baked Fro Yo. My days total ended up being 90 points+, but I plan on doing good the rest of the week. I used all of my weekly points, going into negatives, but with my activity so far for the week I had already made up for some of it and will easily make up for more later this week! Over all I had a good time and the food was amazing so I’m glad I splurged on what I did.
IMG_6984

I passed out much earlier than usual feeling sick and way over stuffed. I felt better in the morning and woke up at 7. I then surprisingly ran 3 miles in just 26:22 minutes! I was just going to do 2 miles and do more later, but I felt good so I kept going!

After I showered I made some oatmeal with cocoa powder, cinnamon, blueberries, and bananas and had a part of a donut with it. 4 points+ total.

Even my coffee was blueberry cobbler flavored, blueberry theme!

Even my coffee was blueberry cobbler flavored, blueberry theme!

I went to the store with my parents and got some fruit, lettuce and chocolate bars out of it. When I got home it was off to work with my Kashi bar (3 points+) and nectarine! The day was busy but went smoothly and I got out a bit earlier than I thought I would. I got home, woke Tony up, and headed to my moms for a late lunch/early dinner. She made poor boys so for us she grilled chicken and got wheat sub rolls. Instead of her amazing double baked potatoes we had sweet potatoes. Everything together was 9 points+, and I forgot a picture (AGAIN).

I had all of the intentions to run again after my food settled, but I only ran for 3 minutes and decided I much rather would go to the store to get some things for our actual dinner later. After the store and some relaxing and video games with a friend I made our stuffed portobello mushrooms with some roasted broccoli and sautéed onions and mini bell peppers. 2 points+ for the cheese!
IMG_6989

I wanted something sweet so I tried out one of my new chocolate bars. I had 2 pieces of the 6 piece bar, which was only 2 points+. I am excited to try the other kinds!
IMG_6991

More hanging out and some online browsing passed. Our friend ran to grab some food so we did half the XHIT 7 minute ab video and made some s’mores in the oven for dessert! 6 points+ of pure bliss.
IMG_6993

Not enough at all, ever. I need to stop craving and going into consume mode at night. I ate a banana and then almost a whole cup of grapes. AND STILL WANTED MORE. Hopefully I hold out for the next while until bed, but I really want some cookies or ice cream. After last night I shouldn’t even consider, but it just sounds so good. This week will be easier once I’m back in my routine, but right now I am feeling pretty off track. Wish me luck!

Draggin’

Last night I did the unthinkable, I ate 6 s’mores Oreos!

This was my first batch...

This was my first batch…

This caused me to go over 12 points over my daily goal, but still had 5 weekly allowance points left PLUS I gained 34 activity points through the week, so I am okay with it. I had weigh in this morning, and I lost another .6 lbs. I plan on splurging pretty badly tomorrow on date night, so I’m glad my points all started over!

I woke up early this morning naturally at 7:30 and got ready to run. I did 3.25 miles in 29 minutes on the treadmill and then made myself some waffles with my Kodiak mix! I added some pecans in them and topped it with heated blueberries, syrup, and some whipped cream! 4 points+.
IMG_6960

I did A LOT of sitting around today. It was awful and boring and I really just need to get through the next few work days and deal with it. I did an XHIT back and chest workout video, and then added some more because I didn’t feel satisfied. Afterwards I did a 15 minute advanced combination yoga routine. More sitting around. I was actually tempted to nap at a few points which I haven’t done in forever. My snack was a half an apple with pb2 and a blueberry oatmeal donut that Tony made this morning in honor of National Donut Day! 3 points+ total.
IMG_6961

I honestly just sat and watched Hulu forever dreading work and anticipating date night and next Tuesday. At lunch I had a ham and swiss grilled cheese with sauteed onions and spinach on it. I ate a carrot and the other half of my apple on the side. 4 points+ total.
IMG_6962

I grabbed my popcorn and Fiber One bar (3 points+) and headed to work. A lot of people cancelled towards the end of my night so I got out fast right at 7. I got home and relaxed a bit with a couple of friends Tony had over.

They headed out and we got our dinner together. Leftovers from last night! It was better tonight, mostly because my plate from yesterday was the very end of the sauce when I divided it up. I didn’t use parmesan cheese today, I had a half an english muffin as garlic bread, and had italian dressing instead of caesar (along with peppers, onion, green onion, tomatoes, and spinach), so my total for dinner was 8 points+.
IMG_6965

Tony did some editing and I went on the computer for a bit, impatiently waiting for him to be done. We watched some Netflix afterwards and then after getting things ready for the morning it was time for XHIT’s 9 moves for a flatter stomach.

I wanted a dessert different than just ice cream with something mixed in, so I got creative. I took 6 Marias cookies and put Better’n Butter on them to make sandwich cookies. (Who needs Oreos!? Oh yeah… me.) I had a small serving of neapolitan ice cream with strawberries all mixed in. 4 points+ all together, and yummy.
IMG_6968

I need to try and get to sleep earlier than usual tonight so I can wake up and run in the morning. I need to do 3 miles between tomorrow and Sunday to keep on track for my 100 mile month, and I’d like to get as many ahead as I can! Date night tomorrow night, so I won’t be running after work! That’s really the one thing I’m looking forward to since Monday’s potential 10 hour shift is looming over me.
